The spur gear is manufactured with involute toothing, which largely determines the characteristics of a spur gear unit. The gear ratio thus remains constant across the entire rotational speed range. The slip between the tooth flanks in the gear mesh is minimised, reducing wear on the gear wheels. The helix angle, which differentiates straight- from helical-toothed spur gears, as well as heat treatment and tooth flank finishing, have a significant impact on the kinematic durability of the gear. The high-quality toothing creates optimum behaviour during operation.
